The Libyan Trademark Office (TMO) has officially cancelled the annual trademark renewal payment option and confirmed that all renewals must now be filed for a full ten-year term, with the applicable fees paid in one lump sum.
Following the introduction of the USD 20,000 per class renewal fee, the TMO had allowed payment in annual instalments of USD 2,000. That instalment option has now been withdrawn.
Going forward, renewals must cover the full ten-year statutory term, and the entire USD 20,000 per class must be paid upfront at the time of filing the renewal application. Trademark owners are advised to review upcoming renewals and take the revised payment structure into account when planning renewal filings.
